“Home enlightenment” is defined here as creating “non-toxic” formulas for household and fabric cleaning, pest control, pet and garden care, and skin health. Host Annie B. Bond points out that baking soda and vinegar can take care of most household cleaning, and borax and a few essential oils can reportedly take care of the rest. Bond does plug some “green” companies' products, among them Seventh Generation (which reciprocates with an endorsement on the DVD cover), and scolds people who use “chemicals” in their “toxic bathrooms,” but I have to admit that while cleaning up a nasty mess from my not-quite-potty-trained toddler son, I was grateful for bleach. Some viewers simply wanting environmentally friendly information may also be put off with the New-Agey advice to “smudge” (i.e. burn sage in a bowl) after a fight, someone dying in your house (!), or a visit from a friend with “bad energy.” Optional. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
