After observing wild birds at feeders and in birdbaths, many people want to learn more about our feathered friends. While not a bird identification guide, such as Backyard Birds of the Northeast (VL-5/98), this useful and interesting tape for children and adults which provides advice and guidance on where to look for birds, what kind of viewing equipment to use, how to sharpen observation skills, keep lists, and photograph birds, would make a perfect companion piece. Although most of the footage was taped in Massachusetts (with one excursion to a huge bird-viewing blind in Texas), the primacy of Eastern species won't be an impediment to Western audiences, since the emphasis is on developing skills. Highly recommended. Aud: I, J, H, P. (R. Reagan)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
