One is reminded of Linda Fiorentino's husky massage instructions in After Hours ("Just make it hurt, and you'll be on the right track") while watching the enthusiastic rubdowns in this video, some of which appear to be a tad painful. I mean when you're lying there getting compressive effleurage, petrissage, and deep transverse friction you're gonna feel it, right? This video not only provides a cram course in massage terminology, it brings the viewer up to speed on all that's happening in the wonderful world of sports massage by outlining methods of therapy, demonstrating techniques, and showing just what to shop for in the way of portable massage tables and lotions. Viewers go on location to a sporting event where massage is incorporated into the athlete's warm-up routine; later they receive post-event massage therapy instruction for the over-used, and oft-injured, athlete's muscles. Nice graphics and titles, appropriately interspliced sports footage, and good head-to-Achilles massage demonstrations by host/sports therapist Benny Vaughn give this video a pleasing pace and a polished presentation.
