Designed for students in grades 7-12, Perfect Composition, hosted by Aaron Pitre, covers a variety of fundamental components of essay writing--from overcoming writer's block (with strategies such as freewriting and clustering) to putting the finishing touches on that evaluative, argumentative, or compare and contrast paper, all the while emphasizing the fun aspects of writing. Specific topics addressed include the introduction, thesis statements, topic sentences, ways of capturing the reader's attention, the importance of proofreading and editing, and plagiarism. A good match for the target audience, the farcical animated Hector "the self-critic who lives in everyone's brain" is the only somewhat patronizing element of this otherwise sound and capable program that could lead to markedly better student essays. Highly recommended. Identically priced related titles include Perfect Vocabulary, Perfect Communication, The Perfect Sentence, The Perfect Paragraph, and Perfect Punctuation. Aud: J, H. (J. Williams)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
