Don't let the sleepy, folksy ambiance of flea markets fool you--to hear this video tell it, economic activity at one of the meadow expos puts the NYSE to shame. Maybe not, but What a Deal! does contain some practical information on the specifics of business transactions at flea markets. Divided into two parts--one for buyers and one for sellers--this how-to reviews clever ways to beat the pants off your flea market competition. Among concepts covered are how to spot a sleeper (an underpriced item), how to fairly fight a fellow buyer for a desired item, and (for sellers) how to freshen up old inventory. This is valuable knowledge, especially for dead serious collectors. Pratfalls of the video include annoying clichés ("the early bird gets the worm" and "follow your best instincts") and dull footage used repeatedly. Still, a quantity of helpful tips and a small price tag make What a Deal! a decent deal. Recommended, with reservations. (A. Laker)
