Anger is a normal emotion, but many kids think that anger itself is bad, since it tends to lead to punishment. This fine video reinforces the idea that being mad is sometimes OK--what matters more is how one deals with anger. Through several vignettes, children learn to identify what makes them mad, how to correctly handle the emotion, and constructive strategies for changing their attitudes. Simple techniques (i.e. "stop and think") and social consequences are outlined by two adolescent hosts, thus avoiding a potential condescending or disciplinary tone. The accompanying material is easily adaptable to any classroom or counseling situation and reinforces the video. Although intended for "minority & urban youth," this tape is recommended for any elementary-aged children. Aud: E, I. (E. Gieschen)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
