Although I usually cringe when I see programs featuring art projects for kids (how many trivets and recipe holders can one kitchen stand?), my fears were quickly put to rest with this terrific title featuring beautiful items you might be proud to display in your home rather than bury in your backyard. Host and veteran art instructor Cherie Lynn combines fun art projects from cultures around the world--including Greek, Australian, Oaxacan, Japanese, Native American, and Egyptian--together with historical and anthropological background on each of the 12 projects here. Viewers can choose between a one-minute preview, a materials list, or simply jump right in to the detailed, well-demonstrated instruction. Primarily geared toward the older elementary through middle school aged set (for the aspiring artist there are some challenging projects that are more difficult), the DVD also includes printable supply lists, pattern sheets, and instructions. Let's hope this excellent production is the first in a series. Highly recommended. Aud: I, J, P. (L. Stevens)
