Mark Duginske shows viewers how to get the most out of their bandsaws in the excellent hands-on guide Mastering Your Bandsaw. Claiming that the bandsaw is the most versatile tool in the workshop, Duginske offers tips using 1/2", 1/4", 1/8", and 1/16" blades. In addition to some good advice on maintenance, viewers will learn how to cut tenons and dovetail joints, cut metal and plastic patterns, make scroll cuts, and more. The Woodfinishing Video, hosted by Michael Dresdner, is nowhere near as informative as his The Woodfinishing Book. In the video Dresdner visits three woodworkers whom he follows through finishing projects, but the approach is way too informal for viewers to learn much. Mastering Your Bandsaw is highly recommended. The Woodfinishing Video is not a necessary purchase. (Available from: Taunton Press, Box 355, Newtown, CT 06470; (800) 243-7252. )

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
