Created by the producers of The Office in the same mock-documentary style, Parks and Recreation is one of smartest sitcoms airing on network TV. The fifth season sends Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler)—the most dedicated civil servant in small town America—to the next level of public service as a member of the highly dysfunctional Pawnee City Council. Meanwhile, Leslie's boyfriend, Ben (Adam Scott), runs a political campaign in Washington D.C., which only strengthens their romance; best friend Ann (Rashida Jones) is anxious to have a baby, and Tom (Aziz Ansari) finally discovers a business model that thrives. Parks and Recreation features one of the funniest ensembles on TV (Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, and Rob Lowe are all priceless) and all of them are given episodes in which they can shine. Guest stars include Lucy Lawless (who brings romance to the life of Offerman's gruff Ron Swanson) and Patton Oswalt (who pitches his own Star Wars script in a hilarious town council filibuster). Compiling all 22 episodes from 2012-13, extras include extended episodes, deleted scenes, webisodes, a gag reel, and the entire improvised Oswalt Star Wars filibuster. Highly recommended. (S.
