When glamorous, high-powered New York lawyer Carly Whitten (Cameron Diaz) finds out that her suave, smooth-talking suitor, Mark King (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), has a wife stashed away in Connecticut, she's furious. But then said wife—naïve, needy, highly-neurotic Kate (Leslie Mann)—winds up barging into Carly's office, which leads to tequila shots, a heart-to-heart talk, and an unlikely friendship with Kate, after which the pair discover that there's a third woman, the much younger Amber (Sports Illustrated bikini model Kate Upton). Well, hell hath no fury like three women scorned: establishing solidarity, the wronged ladies vow vengeance on the deceitful serial seducer, referring to themselves as The Wife, The Mistress, and The Boobs. Seemingly recycling the wretched 2006 comedy John Tucker Must Die, director Nick Cassavetes concocts an uneven, fem-centric betrayal fantasy that is filled with embarrassingly sadistic slapstick gags, such as dipping Mark's toothbrush in the toilet, putting hair remover in his shampoo, adding laxatives to his scotch, and spiking his morning smoothies with estrogen-enrichment supplements. Diaz and Mann can do madcap comediennes, but Upton struggles to keep up, although Nicki Minaj garners giggles as Carly's personal assistant, and Don Johnson shows up briefly as Carly's lecherous, five-times-married father. Optional. [Note: DVD/Blu-ray extras include a “Giggle Fit” outtake reel (5 min.), a gag reel (4 min.), a photo gallery, and trailers. Exclusive to the Blu-ray release are deleted/alternate scenes (10 min.), and bonus digital and UltraViolet copies of the film. Bottom line: a small extras package for this mean-spirited comedy.] (S.
