Spike TV's MANswers makes no claims towards political correctness: it's crude, immature, and sexist to boot. As the title indicates, the show seeks to answer lowest-common denominator questions such as, “Is the death touch for real?” (“Yes”) and “Can you beat a Breathalyzer?” (“No”). As revved-up narrator Matthew Short recommends, “Sit back, relax, and grab a six-pack!” If the heavy-metal soundtrack, parade of breast implants, and mild profanity (the b-word gets a lot of play) doesn't serve as a complete disincentive, however, viewers will surely learn a thing or two as astronomers, pharmacists, physicists, plastic surgeons, and other experts provide informed explanations (naturally, the lineup also includes a sexologist—Dr. Ava Cadell, who appears often). Featuring some of the “best” MANwers from the 2007 first season, this compilation of clips follows the same format throughout to answer questions, using re-enactments, stock footage, movie clips, speculation from men on the street, and professional input. Definitely aimed at adults—other questions include “How Can You Get Drunk Faster?” and “How Can You Defend Yourself in a Barroom Brawl?—this would most likely appeal to fans of Beavis and Butt-head, Jackass, and Maxim magazine…'nuff said. Optional. (K. Fennessy)
