Purely as a genre entry, it delivers sufficient shocks and genuine surprises to get a christening from fans of this type of picture. A decent, underseen entry for horror-friendly shelves in public libraries, but again, note the graphic sexual content
Yet, the frantic farce almost uncannily reflects the Gabby Petito disappearance/murder sensation that was major news in late summer 2021. That timely hook (and an impressive body count) adds sting to what is otherwise a broad satire.
Eye Without a Face may not be Alfred Hitchock level, but it will do if one is willing to settle for William Castle, with perhaps a mild side commentary on internet-age angst.
