El Hombre Búfalo is a bizarre and somewhat haunting mockumentary that attempts to artistically address the dangers of journalism in Mexico. It is an outstanding choice and is highly recommended for drama and world cinema library shelves.
As the film contains graphic and sometimes disturbing subject matter, it may not be appropriate for all audiences; however, showing how artists create their art makes the film a useful addition to art and photography collections.
The rambling final thought of “that’s just the way it is” was as underwhelming as it was disrespectful to the stories of those refugees used throughout the film. The Universality of it All is not recommended.
The pull of Torossian's esoteric Armenian visions are much stronger for collections leaning towards the avant-garde, as well as those showcasing Armenia and Near East heritage.
