There's something about the sight of sea otters wrapped up in kelp, snoozing away on the wide Pacific ocean that reminds me of...well...supervisors, actually. Sea otters are just one of over 50 different animals and birds photographed by award-winning cinematographer Daniel Zatz in this kid-friendly guide to Alaska's wildlife. Separated into sections covering photogenic critters in the water, land, and air, the program features stunning footage of doll sheep, caribou, snowy owls, humpback whales, orcas, bald eagles, salmon and polar bears, among other animals. On the down side, the too cute narration by a very young child makes this suitable for very young children only (kindergarten and first grade), and the "it's all happening every minute of every single day in Alaska" tourist pitch is a little heavy. Still, the footage is absolutely superb and the producers are donating 50% of the profits toward preserving wildlife in Alaska. On balance, this is recommended. Aud: K, E, P. (R. Pitman)
