If you prefer your children's sing-alongs to have a traditional folksy feel, with just a dash of C&W, then Another Great Day for Singing, featuring the gentle--and occasionally comic--singing of James Durst, is just the ticket. In addition to standards such as "This Old Man," "Home on the Range," "This Little Light of Mine," and "Red River Valley," the guitar-pickin' Durst tosses in some originals (I especially liked "All My Socks," which is about clothing with holes...so you can stick in your foot, head, leg, hand, etc.), and creative takes on classics (such as the special-effects version of "A Hole in the Bucket" with Durst simultaneously playing two characters, "Eb" and "Flo"). A follow-up to A Great Day for Singing (VL-4/93), this inexpensive, imaginative, and entertaining entry features 14 songs in all (including a child's introduction to the orchestra through "Old King Cole" and the Spanish tune "Somos El Barco/We Are the Boat." Recommended. Aud: K, E, P. (R. Pitman)
