If grownups could re-learn to play with their food, imagine the fun we'd have at dinner parties. We could ooze mashed potatoes though our fingers, stick lime green jello into weird places and drive home in a non-alcohol related glow. Safer, huh? The newest volume in the award winning Baby's First Impressions series (VL-9/96) introduces children to the joy of food (mainly fruits and vegetables). In several snappy segments, this food-for-thought video teaches little viewers how to eat corn on the cob, make an easy fruit dessert as well as a green salad, and (importantly) how to wash hands. We also see children eating bananas, animal crackers, pizza, and putting the aforementioned jello over their eyes like fashionable new eye-ware. The manners section is excellent: don't make bubbles in your milk, don't talk with your mouth full, and never wipe your hands on your shirt. Sporting top-notch production values, this nice paced, fun program is recommended. Other new titles in the series include: Sounds, Seasons and Head to Toe. (N. Plympton)
