Although I am not, technically speaking, a baby (except maybe to my wife, Anne), I was able to put entire sentences together after a single viewing of this Spanish immersion tape for toddlers. (Example: "Un cojin verde bebe una manzana roja," which regular Español speakers will immediately recognize as the popular phrase, "a green pillow drinks the red apple.") Joking aside, this handsomely produced program features colorful live action footage of children, animals, fruit, and clothing; animated segments devoted to numbers and colors; and people offering greetings and expressions. For each term/phrase, the word is spoken in Spanish and shown onscreen in Spanish in large letters, followed by a brief appearance of the word in English in smaller letters. The final quarter of the tape is devoted to a randomly arranged review set to traditional Spanish tunes. Featuring over 60 words and phrases, this introductory video for toddlers and pre-kindergartners should maintain the interest of both wee ones and parents. Nine other identically priced programs are also available in the series: French, Gernan, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Portuguese, Swedish, Greek and Arabic. Recommended. Aud: K, P. (R. Pitman)
