"Wow." "Cool." "Problem solved." Words of wisdom from Steve, a true new millennium kind of guy who's pretty serious about the importance of using notebooks, checking off lists, and spending time in the thinking chair to figure stuff out…but still wears cuddly rabbit slippers. If you're a fan of Blues Clues, the hit Nick, Jr. show for pre-schoolers, than you already know that Steve and his dog Blue regularly play an audience interactive game in which kids try to solve problems by evaluating "clues" from Blue. In Blue's first motion picture length adventure, the neighborhood regulars are putting on a really big musical show, working hard to get costumes ready, the stage built and snacks made. When Tickety the clock, who's slated for a duet with Blue, develops a case of last minute laryngitis, the search is on for a new singing partner. In addition to playing a fun game of Blues Clues to find a replacement for Tickety, kids will enjoy the colorful animated sets, winning songs, and a get-down-get-loose-get-funky introduction to musical notes, rhythm, and tempo from soul man Ray Charles--not to mention a brand new character, Periwinkle the cat. Fun for kids and parents (I'd be cited by the Fib Police, if I said that I wasn't tapping my middle-aged foot along with the songs), Blue's Big Musical Movie is entertaining, educational and--with its gentle encouragement to not give up--actually rather touching. Highly recommended. Aud: K, P. (R. Pitman)
