Although it doesn't have the verve and vivacity of some of the other recent Rabbit Ear productions (notably Pecos Bill and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow), the latest entry in this fine series of children's videos is still a good deal better than most children's video. Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon) narrates Rudyard Killing's clever tale of how a leopard and an Ethiopian living and hunting in the "'sclusively yellowish-greenish-brownish" environment of the High Veldt had the tables turned on them when the mono-colored giraffe, zebra, and the other animals migrated into the jungle and adopted camouflage coloring. Baffled, the predatory pair follow them in, and then decide to take on some distinctive coloring of their own-which is how, in a rather ingenious way, the leopard gets his spots. Lori Lohstoeter's illustrations are colorful, as is the African-flavored music of Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Recommended. (Available from most distributors.)
