How's this for a slightly twisted alphabet: “H” is for half-eaten hotdogs, “P” is for puppy poo, "S" is for smelly sneakers, and “Y” is for year-old yams? Yummy? You betcha…if you're a hungry garbage truck. Based on Kate and Jim McMullan's 2002 ALA Notable picture book of the same name, the fully animated I Stink! features a New York City garbage truck on a night run: rolling out from the waste management headquarters (“I smell breakfast!”), collecting an alphabet soup of nasty treats (“tailgate says ‘ah'”), and finally unloading everything onto a waiting barge. Sure to give tykes the giggles, this entertaining “day in the life” portrait of a most necessary community service is recommended. Aud: K, E, P. (R. Pitman)
