Did you know that the Titanic measured one-sixth of a mile from the DiCaprio/Winslet decorated bow to the people-eating propeller at the stern? Or that the ship weighed over 46,000 tons and housed 159 coal-burning furnaces? Or that with some cardboard, ice cubes and a table, you too can reenact the fatal iceberg collision which sealed (or un-sealed) Titanic's fate on the night of April 12, 1910? Historical private eye Doug Deeper, along with his assistants, Meg (a computer) and Knute (a PDA) take young viewers on a historical journey outlining the who, what, when and where's of Titanic's construction, maiden (and final) voyage and tragic sinking. The video combines archival footage, a handful of special effects (not quite in the same league as Mr. Cameron's little epic), jokey dialogue, and even a hummable elegy ("O Titanic") to keep kids mildly entertained in this reasonably priced history lesson.
