I'd never seen a Kidsongs video before, but this entry brought me up to speed pretty quickly with it's three and a half minute opening commercial for other Kidsongs videos, audiocassettes and various merchandising tie-ins. In this new series, the Kidsongs kids, a multicultural group of smiling lip-synchers, are whisked away to the land of the Biggles (who look a bit like low-budget Teletubbies), where 7-year-old Billy Biggle is having a birthday party. The story goes something like this: the kids meet Billy and sing (immediately pledging unconditional love--"We love the Biggles, and the Biggles love us..."); they sing on the way to the toy store to buy presents; they sing to party games such as Simon Says; they sing "Happy Birthday"; they re-pledge their love and leave. Plot: well, there isn't any. Imagination: well, there isn't much of that either. Recommendation: well, it's not. Aud: K, E, P. (R. Pitman)
