"You and I improve when we move like the animals move," kids sing in this amiable introduction to enhancing early motor skills, based on the movement awareness lessons of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais. Writer/director Stephen Rosenholtz and a few other adults demonstrate the movements of a bear, cat, frog, and alligator to a group of kids, while singing a catchy song about each animal. Children are likely to appreciate the fun of slithering around like "Al" the alligator while singing such playful lyrics as "all day long I lie and wait, but at night I alligate." When the animals finish, the children point out some of the wonderful movements humans can make, such as walking on one's toes or heels, hopping, and skipping. a companion volume, Monkey Moves, which uses the same format is also available. a fun, nicely filmed musical exercise program for children 4-7.
