Ten minutes into this tripe, I turned to my teenage son and said: "What's the syndicated cartoon cultural literacy story on this lame-o series?" To which he responded after much serious thought: "Dunno." Subtitled The Legend Begins, this liar-liar-shroud-on-fire entry "begins" with no set-up whatsoever, as a bunch of quasi superhero mummies and a modern-day kid are ambushed in a pyramid in some modern city. Shouting "with the strength of Ra" the good guys square off against bad guys that look like Egyptians wearing dog masks and such (except for the talons on the feet and other unexplained extraterrestrial touches). Beyond the basic good vs. evil storyline--which is as old as Gilgamesh--this reminded me a bit of the earlier Disney effort Gargoyles...only without the story sense, humor or sterling animation. Not recommended. (R. Pitman)
