Ralph, Beverly Cleary's version of a rebel with a Harley, is back. This time out, Ralph is in dutch with his uncle for not sharing rides on his motorcycle. The conflict eventually leads to Ralph's decision to hit the highway. He ends up at a nearby children's camp, where he is befriended by a shy boy named Garfield. Constantly threatened by Catso the cat, Ralph holds his own and comes to the aid of Garfield when the boy is unjustly accused of stealing a fellow camper's watch. Director Ron Underwood has delivered a solid story supported by truly ingenious dimensional animation effects. If you're planning on buying four copies of Beverly Hills Cop II, buy this instead. You'll get much more for your money. Highly recommended for larger public and school libraries. (Available from: Churchill Films, 662 North Robertson Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90069-9970).
