Filmed at the Universal Studios theme park in Florida, The Reppies in Concert introduces Razz, Tessa, Bumba, Derango, and Lobo--reptiles who evolved some mammal characteristics in order to survive whatever wiped out the dinos way back when. Traveling the U.S. on their "Hugs & Kisses Tour," the Reppies play to a full (and most likely coached) audience of very enthusiastic youngsters. They sing a handful of tunes such as "The Reppies' Rap" and "There's A Green Revolution," sporting lyrics like "we are tired of oil slicks on our ocean," "I would save the trees," and "pick it up" (litter). While they're basically environmentally correct overgrown Care Bears, I have to confess that The Reppies had me tapping my feet. Recommended. [Note: there is a commercial at the end of the program for Summerfield Suite Hotels which seems rather out of place on a children's video.] (See EVEN MORE PRESCHOOL POWER! for availability.)
