Wacky Dogs

Did you know that little dogs used to run inside a wheel which, in turn, would rotate a skewered pig over an open fire? I didn't either (and boy is my dog going to be in for a big surprise at the family picnic this coming weekend). That's just one of the tasty tidbits that viewers will be fed in this playful (though sometimes repetitive) introduction to the world of dogs. Three young hosts share facts with us in between segments showing dogs catching Frisbees, playing together, licking their chops (the tape reports this event as if it were a sport, replete with slo-mo; I thought it was pretty funny), wagging tails, and just being lovable and cute. Human voices are added to make it seem as if the dogs are talking, and while the humor is kind of hit-and-miss, there's enough fun stuff here to definitely recommend this one. Ages 3 and up. (R.
