Instead of saying "I just can't!" say "I can't...yet, but I will!" That's the central lesson of this straightforward video about self-motivation and believing in one's abilities. Three ordinary kids are presented, each facing a different insurmountable problem. With the help of others, and their own determination, they achieve success. Along the way, viewers discover that everyone can do something well, just as everyone has areas they don't automatically excel in. When children expect to be perfect, or good at everything right away, they set themselves up for disappointment. The kids in each scenario are surprisingly good actors; unfortunately, there's not enough footage of them. Instead, the program features a lot of talking-head segments coupled with a rather convoluted board game concept. Although the lessons are reinforced well, children seem to respond better to dramatic situations they can relate to and interact with. Optional. Aud: E, I. (E. Gieschen)
