Using voice-over narration, Damon Runyon tells his delightful story of three Depression-era hoods--Harry the Horse, Little Isidore, and Spanish John--who miss a payoff, and consequently need to blow a safe. Having no knowledge about safecracking themselves, they seek out Butch. Only Butch has a small problem; his wife has left their son John Ignatius behind while she attends a wake. After some serious low-brow deliberation, the quartet hit upon a grand idea: bring the baby along. Needless to say, a small child will complicate a bank heist every time out. John Ignatius likes to cry, crawl, and play with nitroglycerine. The ending is...well...explosive. Highly recommended.
