Our personal favorite schlock film. Life is really not complete until you've seen a grown whale cry. Richard Harris (who plays the role in absolute seriousness) is a bounty hunter who kills a pregnant whale, thereby infuriating her mate. Al though Orca doesn't actually say so, it's pretty clear that he vows revenge. One of his victims is Bo Derek (in an early role as a slightly befuddled piece of whalebait). When the deaths begin to pile up, Harris finally puts 2 and 2 together and somehow gets 5. He understands why Orca is upset (which makes sense), but he empathizes and has an almost spiritual relationship with the whale (which doesn't). (We know what you're thinking: Ahab's relationship with Moby Dick wasn't exactly par. Trust us on this one. There's no comparison.) But, best of all, it's a can't fail hit because it works both ways. We know people who think this is the best action/adventure film ever made.
