Danny DeVito (Vincent) and Arnold Schwarzenegger (Julius) are the unlikely twins which result from a genetic experiment gone awry. Instead of one superman issuing from a sperm soup composed of the seed of six men chosen for their superior physical and mental capabilities, two babies are born--one of whom is a decidedly corrupt runt (Vincent). Secluded on a desert island all his life, Julius sets out for the big city to find his brother, and together they go looking for mama. Although the plot is moved along by a mechanical chase device (Vincent, stealer of Caddies, has lifted a vehicle with a new military weapon in the trunk), the story keeps the focus on the two brothers. Casting Arnold as a lover of poetry and philosophy with genuine moral concern for his fellow humans was a stroke of inspired genius. And DeVito delivers his best performance to date as Vincent--the apotheosis of a scumbag. Highly recommended. (R. Pitman)
