Patrick Blake is the host for this short, but informative tour, of our nation's greatest library. Founded in 1800, the Library of Congress has seen numerous changes--both architecturally and functionally. Today, the 5,000 employees handle some 21 million volumes on all subjects in all languages. Highlights include a close- up look at the priceless Gutenberg Bible and a draft by Thomas Jefferson of the Declaration of Independence; a walk-through the library's ongoing book preservation program; and an overview of the optical disk pilot program: a program that will make better use of the limited physical space as periodicals and books are put on discs. Highly recommended for all public and school libraries. (Available from: Library of Congress, Information Office, Box A, Washington, DC 20540).

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
