This powerful report from C. Everett Koop, the Surgeon General, is the latest in an apparently unending stream of AIDS-related videos, and one of the best. Beginning with a plea to viewers to understand both the seriousness of the disease and the prevalence of misconceptions related to it, the Surgeon General outlines the future as we presently understand it: "By the end of 1991, an estimated 270,000 cases of AIDS will have occurred with 179,000 deaths within the decade since the disease was first recognized." In light of the fact that scientists are not optimistic about the chances for an imminent cure, the case is strongly made for increased education of our young people. This program covers all aspects of what that education should entail: a description of the virus, how it is contracted, steps to protect oneself, and a look at the present and future effects of the virus on society. Public libraries without a good AIDS video should purchase this one; a must for schools. (Available from: Pyramid Film & Video, 2801 Colorado Ave., Santa Monica, CA 90404).
