This is an excellent historical overview of the Democratic Party and the growing pains it's suffered during some of America's most turbulent years. Using archival footage, interviews, and rare film clips, the program chronicles the growth of social reform--civil rights, the war on poverty, women's liberation, environmental concerns, and the antiwar movement--all noble arenas for social change which, nevertheless, deeply divided the Democratic party and created a gold mine for Republican opposition. In more recent years, moderates have revitalized the baby boomer's club and the party no longer looks tremendously different from the one chronicled in the companion tape: The Republican Party: 1960-1992. Highly recommended. Aud: J, H, C, P. (N. Plympton)
