From the late 50s through the early 60s, The Kingston Trio always had a folk song on the charts, making this trio of Bay Area college kids turned folk singers the most popular folk group of their day. In this 1989 club concert, the boys have certainly grown a little older, but they've also shed their wholesome image somewhat too. In fact, some viewers will feel like they're watching a trio of dirty old men. Although not mean spirited, the guys do have a few women chasing, homosexual, and "full-body condom" jokes intertwined amongst such hits as "Tom Dooley," "It Takes a Worried Man," and "Scotch & Soda." Altogether, The Kingston Trio perform over a dozen songs, and poke fun at the good old 60s. Though a tad bawdy, baby boomers are sure to enjoy this trip down memory lane. Recommended.
