On a vast field filled with bronze, granite, and marble markers, over 200,000 soldiers and American patriots lie in their final resting places. The story of Arlington National Cemetery, in which men and women from the Revolutionary War through the Persian Gulf War are buried, is told in this slowly-paced low-budget production which features brief spotlight accounts of famous people buried at Arlington (William Christman, a Civil War private, who was the first person to be buried at Arlington, Abner Doubleday, Richard Byrd, John and Robert Kennedy, and others). The centerpiece of the program is the recording of the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. A perfunctory telling of the cemetery's history, with occasionally choppy editing and at least one error (explorer Robert Peary is referred to as "Richard Peary" in the narration), Arlington National Cemetery is an optional purchase, though areas with military populations will certainly want to seriously consider.
