Graphic artist Patrick Nagel passed away abruptly at the age of 34. Because of the liberal relationship between his publisher and himself, Nagel was able to successfully inhabit both the serious art and commercial mass media worlds, doing work for Playboy as well as exhibiting in art galleries. His success rests in the bold use of lines and colors in his beautiful images of women, created in limited edition posters. In this 1982 interview with Patrick Nagel and his publisher Karl Bornstein, host Todd Bingham probes the relationship between artist and publisher, discussing a wide array of topics, including printing/image decisions, contractual agreements, gallery exhibitions, and the freedom to do freelance work and book ventures. Shot in a "talk show" single camera studio format, the pacing is pretty slow. Limited only to those viewers with a strong interest in Nagel and his work, this is a very optional purchase. (J. As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
