The dilemma of how adult children cope with their aging parents and vice versa is explored in this short overview. In a series of mini-dramas, perennial problems such as adults treating their parents like children, aging parents trying to control their adult children's lives, and adults caught in the crossfire between their own offspring and their parents are played out, and then briefly discussed. Unfortunately, with the addition of the dramatic scenes, very little time is left in the film to discuss problem behaviors and solutions. Therefore, what emerges--though certainly well-meaning--is little more than general encouragement to improve communication/listening skills. Libraries who have strong aging collections will want to add this; otherwise not an essential purchase. A more in-depth 26-page booklet accompanies the tape. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
