No music video, this. Rather a musical saga, a sprawling story that resembles a Michener novel, with its 20-year historical framework, and as many musicians revolving through the folk rock band known as Fairport Convention. Beginning with their newfound success as the highlight of an annual summer folk music festival held in Cropredy, England, the program then retraces the tortuous path of critical success, commercial misses, tragedy, frustration, and endless resilience that Fairport followed from their inception in 1967 to the present day. As biographer Patrick Humphries points out, Fairport Convention parented electric folk, and their influence undoubtedly propelled many acts into the limelight, while they themselves remained in the commercial shadows. Weaving back and forth between the landmark events of the past (the early departure of singer/songwriter Sandy Denny; the death of drummer Martin Lamble in a tragic car crash), and dynamite onstage live performances of the band's 20th anniversary reunion at Cropredy, It All Comes 'Round Again is music biography at its finest. Highly recommended. (Available from most distributors.)
