Beginning with the capping of the Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral in 1436 by the visionary architect Brunelleschi, this enhanced slide w/narration presentation gives an overview of Florence's contributions to the ushering in of the Renaissance. In addition to the cathedral's dome, the film covers such masterworks of Italian art as Michelangelo's David, Giotto's Bell Tower, Botticelli's Venus, and Leonardo Da Vinci's Annunciation. Although hampered somewhat by the absence of live-action, the British-accented narration is amiable and informative, and the shots of our cultural landmarks are crisp. Recommended.
