Seven-year old Adam is handed a leaflet offering direct e-mail to God.....for only $10.00. He races home, lifts his dad's American Express card, swipes it through his PC and waits....and waits....for the answer to his question (and mankind's throughout the ages), "Are you there?" At the other end of the line is the Wailing Wall, where the messages are deposited. Days pass before--voilà!--the answer comes: "I'm here. Right here with you. And I know where you got the $10!" This delightful short subject definitely has merit: tight construction, an amazingly authentic and sensitive juvenile performance, lively scenes of the Holy Land, and a neat punch line. But its light-hearted treatment of credit card theft misses the mark when the recommended audience is elementary school level children. Still, consider this a strong optional choice for its clever contemporary treatment of an eternal query. Aud: P. (J. Reed)
