California singer/songwriters' Greg Scelsa and Steve Millang are probably not going to win any awards for profound lyrics or angelic harmonizing, but when it comes to that rare ability of entertaining pre-school and early grade school children, these guys score big time. Greg & Steve: Live in Concert features the duo performing a dozen tunes, many updated familiar classics, with a lot of interaction between the boys and the audience. In fact, the stage sometimes seems superfluous. From the opening number on ("If You Feel Like Rockin"'), the kids in the audience are encouraged to move and groove along with Greg and Steve-both in their seats and up on the stage. Other songs include: "ABC Rock," "The Body Rock," "Scat Like That," "Hand Jive," "If You're Happy & You Know It," "Say Hello," and "The Freeze." Whether the emphasis is on humanistic themes ("The World Is a Rainbow") or just plain fun ("Simon Says"), Greg and Steve put their hearts into each of the performances and the rapport that is established with the audience of children is clearly excellent. The enthusiasm of the pair (and, hey, these guys look like they're having more fun than a couple of seals at Sea World) is infectious, and even older kids (like myself) might be tempted to crank up the Hi-Fi Stereo sound and boogie down. Highly recommended. Editor's Choice.
