It is estimated that seven million children in the U.S. today are engaging in some form of inhalant abuse. But the problem we referred to as "glue-sniffing" in the old days has expanded to include over 600 common household products, including Liquid Paper, PAM, and Magic Markers. This eye-opening program outlines the extent of the abuse, discusses symptoms indicative of inhalant abuse, and touches on some of the ways children conceal their abuse (such as spraying aerosol substances into pop cans). In addition, the camera goes into the classroom where we see students being told the harsh, often fatal, realities of inhalant abuse, and see a demonstration of a powerful teaching program, in which older students teach younger students how to say "no" and really mean it. Because the video contains examples of abuse which could be easily imitated, a warning is run at the beginning of the tape that this program is "for adults only." Although we can't (and shouldn't) enforce that in public libraries, the program should be available to the public. Highly recommended. Editor's Choice. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
