It's easy to find country inns for sale, since an astonishing number of beginning innkeepers quit by their third year, and while there are many reasons for the high turnover, the main one is that the job is just so much darned work, 24/7. People who dream of recasting themselves as Dick Loudon in Newhart need to think long and hard. Here, three innkeepers and a former owner advise potential buyers about the biz. The cover copy does not make the distinction between Bed & Breakfasts (two or three guest rooms within an owner's residence, as an extra income producer) and Inns (six or more rooms, and an owner's sole occupation); however, the tape itself clearly focuses on the latter. Aside from the high price (how-to books on the subject are both much cheaper and more informative), the main drawback to this program is the astonishing lack of attention paid to maintenance expenses. Given that many inns are historic structures with unique needs, this is quite an oversight. Recommended only for comprehensive business video collections. Aud: P. (R. Reagan)
