Recorded live in Berlin's outdoor Waldbuhne ("stage in the woods"), this 1997 concert showcases British bluesman Joe Cocker's mature gravelly vocals on a 17-song set. Trotting out his old Dave Mason classic, "Feelin' Alright," early in the show, Cocker warms up the appreciative crowd and then launches into "Have a Little Faith," the perverse comedy of Randy Newman's "You Can Leave Your Hat On," and the dark-night-of-the-soul gospel of "When the Night Comes." Other highlights include Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic," a confessional take on the Animals' "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," and an aching "You Are So Beautiful" dedicated to the late Princess Di. Cocker might not be the force of nature he once was, but he has conviction born of a lifetime of experiences. Presented in DTS, Dolby Digital 5.1 and stereo, this is recommended. Aud: P. (T. Keogh)
