As a Sunday school skeptic in Yorkshire, England, Peter France crossed his fingers behind his back as he said the creed, and from then on he spent a lifetime struggling to reconcile faith and intellect, culminating in his baptism into the Christian Orthodox faith on a Greek island at the age of 57. His ongoing quest took him from studies at Oxford to stints as an actor, an academic in Australia, and in government service in Fiji, before he settled into a career with the BBC presenting religious documentaries. In seven 15-minute segments, France revisits the places and people who influenced him, recalling his experiences on his journey to faith. There's a refreshing objectivity and conversational quality to France's presentation, along with first rate on-location photography and effective musical accompaniment. Journey is an ideal form of Christian witnessing, sharing the experience of "knowing" God in such a way that it forms a spiritual pilgrimage for the viewer as well as France. Recommended. Aud: P. (J.
