Noting that bullfights are as "important to Spaniards as baseball is to North Americans," this multi-lingual filmstrip-to-video transfer demonstrates the many facets of "la corrida": the bullfight. Presented in three versions (English, Spanish, and Spanish w/English subtitles), "La Corrida" describes the bullfighter and his outfit, the ceremonies which surround the bullfight, and concludes with the bullfight itself. An eight-page booklet accompanying the tape reproduces both the English and Spanish texts, and has a suggested reading list. Sharp imagery, and the ability to show this violent sport and the cultural traditions surrounding it, make this possibly preferable to a live-action recording of a bullfight. Recommended mainly for secondary schools with language studies. (Available from: EAV, Inc., Pleasantville, NY 10570).
