Once you get past the reverential music (I immediately fell to my knees, and stayed there until I was certain that this was just a lovely travel video, not the second coming), Montana On My Mind is a beautifully filmed ode to one of the most visually grand states in the country. Featuring photographer Michael S. Sample, and inspired by his book of the same name, the video combines quotes from authors such as A. B. Guthrie, Jr. (The Big Sky) and Norman Maclean (A River Runs Through It), a handful of interview clips with Montana residents, and endless vistas of water, mountain, sky, wildlife, and nature in all its wondrous bounty (okay, maybe the music was appropriate). Montana folks will, of course, love this (although since other people will also see the program, it may mean an influx of Southern Californians looking to "find" themselves). Highly recommended for most travel collections. (R. Pitman)

This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
