The Holy Land, where the three continents of Africa, Europe and Asia converge, contains a diversity of life forms, and this superb documentary explores these riches, focusing on three distinct areas: the verdant Jordan Valley, the forbidding Negev Desert and the populous, commercial Via Maris. Stunning nature photography provides us with aerial, underground and undersea views of the area's flora and fauna as well as splendid vistas of snow covered mountains, flower-studded meadows, rushing waters and arid desert. The passage of day from dawn to dawn, the change of seasons, and the life cycles of wildlife are all recorded here and the tensions arising from the conflict between human progress and ecological balance are explored in an even-handed manner. It is hard to imagine any improvement that could be made in this presentation and the price makes it one of the bargains of the year. An essential purchase for all collections--don't pass this one up! Editor's Choice. Aud: H, C, P. (J. Reed)
