The perplexing popularity of Robert James Waller's The Bridges of Madison County, notwithstanding, this opening volume in a projected series on 52 covered bridges in Oregon is unlikely to stir much interest in viewers outside the state. 18 bridges are shown using exterior, interior, and long view shots while a few details about the construction and/or renovation are offered along with a pleasant country-flavored instrumental soundtrack. But bare and rather mundane facts do not an interesting video make, and this one's not recommended for libraries outside of Oregon. (R. Pitman)

As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
